A large, well designed study coming out of Canada - women who had planned home births with midwives had better maternal and neonatal outcomes than those who had hospital births with physicians. The results are actually quite impressive.
I thought, at best, home births would yield the same outcomes as hospital births, but the outcomes are actually better on just about every measure. Take that AMA.
