A week of firsts

Grant is three weeks old, and he's earned an additional nickname: "Crankapotamus."

Seriously, we have a very cranky baby. He wakes up crying. He goes to bed crying. If he's not nursing, he's crying. He's only pleasant for about 20 minutes in the morning. I think he has the Moilanen family disposition. It's a good thing he's cute.

This week, Grant had a couple of firsts. He had his first bottle, which was most exciting for Mommy, whose nipples may finally get a break. Unlike many breastfed babies, Grant accepted the bottle without any problem. He's not very discriminating. Our little milk whore will take it from anyone, anywhere, by any means necessary - I'm pretty sure he'd lick breastmilk off the floor if it was the only food around, and if he had head control.

He also had his first real bath, now that the belly button and penis have healed. He was, at first, confused. Then, he seemed to enjoy it for a few moments before remembering that he's supposed to cry at anything new, weird or different, or anything that results in him being cleaner than he was before (such as a bath or diaper change).

Lastly, Grant had his first hearing test. Turns out, he hears just fine. He just ignores us.

Some pictures from week 3...
